(b. 15/12/1957, Belgium) Flemish artist Jan Bosschaert has been working as a freelancer since 1981. He made his debut as a comic artist in 1982, when the publisher Albino released his wordless strip 'Icarus', which was soon followed by the album 'Omni - 20.000 Millirem Onder Zee' for the publisher Oberon.After a short period of not drawing comics, he made his comeback, creating the album series 'Sam', a sympathetic story about a girl called Sam who works as a mechanic in a garage (text by Mark Legendre).Jan Bosschaert is also active as an illustrator. He has worked for the press (NWT, Humo, Panorama, Playboy), literary publishers (Kluwer, ECI, Averbode, Standaard) and the music industry (CD covers). Together with Jean Dufaux he works on the series 'Jaguar', and he also collaborates with Urbanus on the series 'De Geverniste Vernepelingskes' in Panorama.
